NEWS
Free agent quarterback Jake Delhomme has signed a two-year contract with the Cleveland Browns and will make over $7 million this season.
Delhomme was cut by the Carolina Panthers after a disastrous season and a terrible playoff performance back in 2008.
The Browns wanted to bring in a veteran quarterback who would give them the best chance to win now, but it remains unknown whether he will be the team’s starter.
Seneca Wallace, who was recently acquired by the team via trade, has made it known that he was told he would be the starting quarterback.
To clear room for both quarterbacks, the team cut veteran Derek Anderson and then traded hometown hero Brady Quinn.

The Cleveland Browns have traded quarterback Brady Quinn to the Denver Broncos for running back Peyton Hillis, a 2010 sixth-round pick and a 2011 conditional draft pick.
The Browns seem intent on cleaning house somewhat under new team president Mike Holmgren.
Quarterback seems to be the first area where Holmgren wants to concentrate his efforts on upgrading.
The Quinn trade could anger some fans who supported the quarterback because he had local ties to the city.
However, the team managed to pick up a versatile running back and two draft picks that could help speed up the rebuilding process.

The Cleveland Browns have already cut Derek Anderson, and now they are looking to trade Brady Quinn.
The Browns are actively looking for potential suitors for Quinn, but they haven’t had much luck.
Most teams are either set at quarterback or have no interest in Quinn, who hasn’t shown much potential in his young career.
The Browns would be better off holding onto Quinn and giving him one full year as the starter to see what he can do.
That seems unlikely with Mike Holmgren running the show, as he seems intent on handing the starting job to Seneca Wallace.

The Cleveland Browns have released veteran quarterback Derek Anderson after five years with the team.
The Browns had just recently traded for quarterback Seneca Wallace, meaning one of their quarterbacks was likely to go.
Anderson had one standout season for the Browns after being signed over from the Baltimore Ravens.
After that, things quickly went downhill for Anderson, and he eventually lost his starting job.
He was due a roster bonus on March 19, which made his release all that much easier.

The Cleveland Browns have signed offensive tackle Tony Pashos to a three-year contract worth $10.3 million.
Pashos was an unheralded player coming out of college who really developed from a reserve into a starter during his years with the Baltimore Ravens.
He eventually turned a strong final year with the Ravens into a big, multi-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Things didn’t work out as was initially expected with the Jaguars, as Pashos didn’t live up to his contract and was eventually released.
Cleveland was able to bring in Pashos with a reasonable to deal to help solidfy an offensive line that has really struggled the past few years.

The Cleveland Browns have made another move, this time trading for Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback Seneca Wallace.
In exchange for Wallace, the team sent the Seahawks an undisclosed 2011 draft pick.
Wallace was enticing to the Browns because of his ties to current president Mike Holmgren.
He also could be an interesting asset when the team goes to its Wildcat formation, something it had a lot of success using with Joshua Cribbs.
The acquisition of Wallace likely means the end of the road for either Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson.

The Cleveland Browns have signed free agent veteran linebacker Scott Fujita to a contract. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
Fujita played outside linebacker for the New Orleans Saints in their run to the Super Bowl, but will switch to the inside with the Browns.
The Browns said that they were thrilled to back able to sign Fujita so quickly, as he was one of the players they targeted at the start of free agency.
They consider him to be a smart, tough player, the kind they are looking to bring into the organization these days.
You can already tell that the Browns are working hard to change to the culture of the team and the organization after years of futility.

Cleveland Browns standout Joshua Cribbs has finally been rewarded for his play, receiving a three-year contract worth $18.5 million from the team.
Cribbs had initially been very vocal that he wanted a new contract from the Browns and felt like his play was unappreciated by the organization.
He relaxed his stance much of last season, saying that he was just was going to take care of business on the field and felt that everything else would take care of itself.
He did make it well known that he was hopeful about the future of the franchise and wanted to stay a Cleveland Brown despite the team’s struggles for more than the past decade.
Mike Holmgren said Cribbs request for another contract was unusual given he had three years remaining, but he felt like the star had a good point and deserved the money.

The Cleveland Browns have released veteran offensive lineman Hank Fraley, much to his dismay.
The team elected to release the 10-year veteran before he was due a roster bonus in two weeks.
Fraley moved around from center to guard to even tight end to help fill in holes along the offensive line.
He said he was shocked by the news and wish he had been informed about the release a few weeks ago.
At 32, Fraley is still likely to draw interest from teams looking to squeeze another few good years out of him.
